About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Market Analyst to join our Corporate Centerra team with accountability for global market intelligence and marketing analysis focused on molybdenum, rhenium and copper concentrates. This position is a hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office, however we are also open to considering candidates located throughout North America.
In this role, you will also provide supporting analysis to help shape the global marketing strategy and execution of commercial opportunities for Centerra Gold’s products.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Reporting to the VP, Commercial and working closely with the Vice President Langeloth Operations, the Commercial Specialist, and the Centerra Treasury team to capture daily market news, develop customer and competitor and market intelligence.
- Maintain molybdenum supply and demand analysis for molybdenum value chain, including mine supply, roasting capacity and leaching capacity, finished goods production/trade flows, and first-use demand in including carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel.
- Update copper supply and demand balance, TC/RC forecast and trade flows.
- Conduct marketing analysis including product pricing and profitability analysis, customer segmentation, and value-in-use.
- Provide competitor analysis and customer next best alternative analysis to support with negotiations.
- Attend industry events and customer meetings as required.
- Management of subscriptions and liaison with publishers and with third-party consultants.
- Assist with development of tools to automate reporting and measure, monitor marketing value add/pricing performance.
- Support with marketing scenario analysis.
- Assist with commercial decision making, generate ideas and evaluate new commercial opportunities.
- Primary market research, interaction with the sales and direct interaction with customers, industry contacts.
- Pricing and technical analysis.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or a relevant field of study.
- Minimum 8 years of experience working in an Analyst position supporting commercial strategies and execution.
- Strong understanding of commodities demand/supply fundamentals with specific experience in commodity research.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions and insights from incomplete data sets.
- Good marketing knowledge with an ability to generate ideas for commercial opportunities from market insights.
- Financial analysis capability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with customers and Centerra internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Desire for accountability and to deliver on projects under tight deadlines.
- Project management skills.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven analytical capability.
- Knowledge of the steel sector is an advantage.
