About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Procurement Contracts Specialist to join our Corporate Centerra team. This position is a hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office.

The Procurement Contracts Specialist plays a key role in managing commercial activities across the supply chain, ensuring that contracts and vendor agreements support Centerra’s operational and strategic goals. This position is responsible for developing, negotiating, and administering procurement contracts while maintaining strong supplier relationships and mitigating commercial risks.

In this role, the specialist drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions, while also managing supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations. A key focus is identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes, drive cost efficiencies, and enhance supply reliability. Additionally, the role involves overseeing risk management related to commercial agreements to protect Centerra’s interests.

The focus of this role will be supporting procurement activities across Corporate, Endako, Kemess, Goldfield Exploration, and Exploration. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Supply Chain, this position is instrumental in strengthening the company’s corporate procurement team. 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Commercial Strategy Execution: Develop and implement commercial strategies that support the overall supply chain goals, ensuring that contracts and agreements are aligned with the company’s objectives and deliver cost savings and efficiency
  • Contract Development & Administration: Lead the drafting, negotiation, and administration of commercial contracts, ensuring that all agreements meet legal / regulatory requirements and satisfy Centerra policy. Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including maintaining a contract registry and managing contract amendments
  • Contract Management: Oversee the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring compliance with obligations, managing key milestones, and facilitating contract amendments as needed. Administer contracts to ensure they align with the project's timeline and budget
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring that commercial terms are met, and that vendor performance is aligned with agreed KPIs. Negotiate terms to ensure favorable outcomes for Centerra. Manage exceptions and approvals.
  • Vendor Performance Management: Monitor vendor performance against KPIs and contractual obligations, providing feedback and managing disputes to ensure service quality and compliance
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments for contractual agreements and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks, ensuring alignment with Centerra's Global Procurement Policy
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all contracts comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies, initiating corrective actions as needed
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including end-user, legal, and finance, to ensure that contracts meet goals and facilitate smooth work execution.
  • Purchasing: Processing purchase requisitions (PRs), issuing purchase orders (POs), monitoring order fulfillment, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
  • Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all commercial activities, ensuring compliance with audit requirements. Develop and report on commercial KPIs to provide insights into contract performance and areas for improvement
  • RFX Management: Develop, issue, and manage tender documents (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs), aligning with supplier negotiation best practices
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement strategic initiatives and business process optimization projects, to build “Best in Class” supply chain practices aligned with Centerra Gold goals and priorities, while collaborating with business units to build consensus
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Ensure contracts are structured to meet the specific needs of end users across exploration, development, and care and maintenance phases. Oversee stakeholder engagement and ensure alignment across Centerra’s operations.

About You

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Post-secondary education in business, law, engineering or supply chain related field is preferred.
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in a contract management, contract administration and procurement Contracts role.
  • Designated Supply Chain Management Professional or actively pursuing a related designation.
  • Experience in the mining, EPCM, construction, or engineering sectors is required.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred, while knowledge of Moody’s, ISN, and similar platforms is an asset.
  • Familiarity with global procurement processes and vendor management.
  • Experience in the mining industry or other asset-intensive industries is an advantage.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on contract negotiation and administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on risk management and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
