About Thompson Creek Mine
The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.
In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.
Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance to join our Thompson Creek team on a rotational schedule. The Supervisor, Electrical Maintenance will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of hourly E & I Technicians.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Being responsible for the day-to-day Electrical, Instrumentation and Process Control, including the daily coordination of crew activities.
- Coordinating and executing the safe and efficient deployment of personnel and equipment in all Electrical, Instrumentation and Process Control activities.
- Provide leadership and direction necessary to ensure the operating integrity of the mine while staying withing the requirements of budgeted costs and production. .
- Recommending ways to measure and improve production methods, employee, and equipment performance, working conditions, and the quality of the work.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and work orders to subordinates and assign daily duties.
- Maintaining compliance with Corporate, governmental, and Site environment, human resources, and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Looking for opportunities to improve employee safety and awareness and ensuring that safety incidents are thoroughly investigated, and notification procedures and protocols are followed.
- Identifying, encouraging, and coordinating training requirements/opportunities for the employees and direct reports.
- Assisting in resolving disputes, mitigating concerns, and other employee issues in a timely manner; or escalating issues to senior levels.
- Maintains employee time and maintenance records. Ensures that reports, work orders, requisitions, logs, and other work-related documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- 3 years of experience as a supervisor in electrical maintenance or a related industry.
- Experience with the site equipment consisting mostly of electric shovels, overhead transmission lines, crushing, conveying, grinding mills, flotation & tailings.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Computer aptitude with working knowledge of MS Office. Experience with SAP.
- Experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work cohesively with other departments.
