About Thompson Creek Mine
The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.
In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.
Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Technician, Environmental Special Projects to join our Thompson Creek team. The Special Projects Technician(s) will be responsible for supporting environmental compliance projects in a safe and responsible manner. The operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain and repair environmental protection equipment and systems as requested by Supervisor.
- Projects may include the following: Snow removal; Pipeline install and maintenance; Haul and access road grading and maintenance; Operation and maintenance of pumping systems; Surveying; Inspection of structures and site locations; Operation of various heavy equipment to support mine and mill efforts; Installation and maintenance of stormwater protection systems. - Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports. Report unsafe mechanical conditions to a supervisor.
- Support spill protection, countermeasures and control incidents and cleanup.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment. Follow established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions.
About You
To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
- 3+ years related experience preferred.
- Excellent safety record.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
