About Thompson Creek Mine
The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.
In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.
Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We are looking for an Supervisor, Mine Maintenance to join our Thompson Creek team. As the Supervisor, Mine Maintenance, you will be accountable for supervising and coordinating the activities of hourly employees engaged in assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, installing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining mine equipment and machinery to manufacturer and/or Company specifications.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Directs activities of subordinates assigned to all phases of maintaining the machinery and equipment used in the mining process. Ensures availability of applicable training opportunities. Assists in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to subordinates and assigns duties. Requisitions and keeps a supply of spare parts.
- Inspects work area to ensure specific work environment safety standards are being met. Investigates irregularities, upsets, and accidents; recommends procedures and methods to improve production capabilities, equipment performance, product quality and employee safety. Coordinates maintenance activities with production department.
- Interprets and ensures compliance with Company policies and enforces safety regulations. Addresses employee concerns and issues. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate mine maintenance technicians to achieve work goals. Addresses employee inappropriate behavior issues. Ensures adherence to standard operational procedures and work practices related to quality, quantity, safety, and efficiency.
- Maintains employee time and maintenance records. Ensures that reports, work orders, requisitions, logs, and other work-related documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
About You
To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required:
- Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills and be knowledgeable of and proficient in related computer applications.
- Must have ability to prioritize assignments and make well-rounded timely decisions.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of safe and efficient mine maintenance practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Associate degree in related field; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory experience highly desirable.
