About Thompson Creek Mine
The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.
In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.
Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We are looking for an Specialist, Contracts to join our Thompson Creek team. Reporting to the General Manager & Global Supply Chain, the Contracts Specialist is responsible for a variety of supply chain duties but primarily the development, negotiation, execution and management of complex contracts and other agreements in accordance with Centerra’s Global Procurement Policy. This position supports colleagues, management, and end-users to deliver department and site objectives. This role can extend its responsibility across Exploration, Project, Care and Maintenance sites and Corporate Offices.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Contract Negotiation: Conduct negotiations with suppliers, vendors, and clients to establish mutually beneficial contractual agreements ensure the objectives of Centerra are fully met.
- Contract Drafting: Develop, issue, and manage tender documents (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs etc.) and coordinate overall evaluations with internal customers. Prepare, review, and revise contracts and other agreements/subcontracts for services and materials, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards and in adherence to Centerra’s Global Procurement Policy.
- Contract Management: Manage the lifecycle of contracts, including monitoring key milestones, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and facilitating contract modifications or amendments as needed.
- Vendor Performance Evaluation: Assess vendor performance against established key performance indicators (KPIs) and contractual obligations, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement as necessary.
- Risk Assessment: Assess risks associated with contractual agreements and propose strategies to mitigate potential risks to the organization.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with contractual terms and conditions, regulatory requirements, and internal policies, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as legal, procurement, finance, and operations teams to align contract terms with business objectives and ensure smooth contract execution.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized contract documentation and records, including contract databases and repositories.
- Dispute Resolution: Resolve contract disputes and conflicts in a timely and efficient manner, leveraging negotiation and problem-solving skills to reach mutually agreeable solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline contract processes, enhance efficiency, and improve contract management practices within the organization.
- Providing sound advise, guidance and education to internal site/office customers on contract formation and contract management processes.
- Responding to supplier inquiries and maintaining partner relationships.
- Provide timely customer service and assist with orders, inquiries, and concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
About You
To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required:
- Post- secondary education in business, finance, law, or engineering is required. Supply Chain or related designation is considered an asset.
- Experience with SAP is preferred. Experience with Ariba or Coupa considered an asset.
- At least 7 years experience in contract management, procurement, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in negotiating, drafting, and managing contracts.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with a strong computer aptitude.
- Experience with EPCM, Construction or Engineering is required.
- Experience in the Mining Sector considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Procurement and Vendor Risk Management Processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must have confidence to interact with senior management and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Highly organized with a passion for detail.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, showing initiative and creativity; excellent verbal, written and listening skills; influential, with strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately; an independent, self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team environment.
