About The Opportunity
We are looking for a Facility Technician, Mine Maintenance to join our Thompson Creek team.
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of company-owned buildings and infrastructure at the mine site, including the operations facilities, shops, and the company housing/camp community where employees reside. This role ensures that all structures, systems, and grounds meet safety, health, and operational standards, and provides a safe, comfortable living environment for site employees and their families in company housing. The position works both independently and as part of the broader site maintenance team, responding to routine work orders as well as urgent repair needs in a remote, industrial environment.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mine-site facilities, including administrative buildings, shops, warehouses, company housing, and common-use structures.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair systems within company housing unit facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, doors/windows, and structural components.
- Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency repair calls (e.g., heating failures, water leaks, power outages) affecting occupied housing.
- Inspect buildings and housing units on a scheduled basis to identify hazards, code violations, and deferred maintenance before they become safety issues.
- Perform carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and general repair work to keep facilities and housing units in good condition between occupant turnover.
- Maintain HVAC systems including filter changes, thermostat calibration, and coordination with contractors for major repairs.
- Keep accurate maintenance logs, work order records, and safety documentation using the site's maintenance tracking system (CMMS).
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs (e.g., appliance service, roofing, lift maintenance).
- Follow all site safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, and PPE requirements; participate in job hazard analyses and safety meetings.
- Respond to after-hours or on-call emergencies as needed, given the remote nature of the site.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Mine Maintenance Supervisor.
