About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. 

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. 

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

The Technician, Mill Operations is a key member of the processing team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the crushing and milling complex. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring various mill circuits, supporting production targets, and contributing to continuous improvement through training, mentoring, and adherence to company policies and safety standards. This will be for a 3 month term position.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities

  • Maintain the operational integrity of all areas in the mill to achieve safety, environmental, quality, cost, and production targets
  • Operate and monitor various circuits in the processing plant as required by the supervisor, including:
    • Grinding
    • Crushing
    • Tailings
    • Reagent Mixing
    • Concentrate Dewatering

Training & Development

  • Develop an understanding of all mill circuits through training and experience, while advancing through the mill technician progression plan
  • Actively participate in mentoring and training others

Compliance & Safety

  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform any other responsibilities related to the Technician, Mill Operations role as required or as assigned by the department head

Equipment Operation

  • Learn and become proficient in the operation of mobile equipment (training provided), including:
    • Skid steer
    • Wheel loader
    • Mini excavator
    • Overhead crane
    • Aerial work platform

About You

  • 3–5 years of experience operating mill circuits, including:
    • Grinding
    • Crushing
    • Tailings
    • Reagent Mixing
    • Concentrate Dewatering
  • Experience with Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out, and Fall Arrest procedures, an asset
  • Experience in maintaining operational integrity across mill areas
  • Experience in operating and monitoring processing plant circuits
  • Experience in mentoring and training within a technical or industrial setting

Working Conditions

  • Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 7 day on/7 day off rotation, with accommodations provided during rotation.
  • Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
  • PPE always required.
  • Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
  • Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
