About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometers northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. 

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. 

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist, Project Controls to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.

This role operates on a rotation of 4 days on / 3 days off  schedule with camp accommodations provided. 

The Specialist, Project Controls is responsible for planning, scheduling, cost control, progress measurement, forecasting, reporting, and change management for Mount Milligan Projects team. The role ensures project performance is accurately measured and reported to support timely decision-making and successful project delivery in accordance with safety, quality, scope, schedule, and budget objectives.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and Operations teams, the Specialist, Project Controls provides project performance analysis, and dash boards reporting that identifies risks and opportunities, and develops strategies to improve project outcomes throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining projects schedule and cost baselines.
• Delivering accurate forecasting and projects performance reporting including Eared Value, SPIs and CPIs.
• Preparing and processing contracts change notices and change orders through approval.
• Ensuring effective cost, schedule, and change management.
• Providing management with monthly dashboard reports.
• Supporting successful delivery of capital projects in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner.
• Identifying and mitigating project risks before they impact project outcomes.
• Ensuring compliance with company project governance standards and project controls procedures.

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:

• A university degree in Engineering, or construction management.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive Project Controls experience supporting mining, industrial, or major capital projects.
• Experience with cost control, scheduling, forecasting, earned value management, change management and month end dashboard reporting.
• Experience supporting projects portfolio in excess of $25M CAPEX preferred.
• Good experience using applications such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Projects, SAP, advanced Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Earned Value Management (EVM), and Cost Forecasting and Change Control Systems.
• Membership with AACE such as CCP or PSP.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) as strong asset.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good time management and prioritization skills.
• Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements.

Working Conditions

• Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 4/3 schedule working 10 hours per day.
• Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 10 hours in duration
• Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
• Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie
