About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. 

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. 

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

Mount Milligan is seeking a Trade, Electrician, who is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, installation, and repair work common to a surface hard-rock mining and milling operation. The role supports the crushing, grinding, flotation, conveyor, electrical distribution, motor-control, and associated support systems required for safe and reliable mill operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain electrical equipment and systems in the mill, shop, and field.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mill grinding equipment, motors, motor control centres, variable frequency drives, panels, switches, relays, circuit breakers, lighting, control circuits, and associated electrical apparatus.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and test high-voltage cables and safely diagnose electrical circuits using drawings, prints, and schematics.
  • Install, maintain, and repair medium- and low-voltage switchgear, conductors, insulators, capacitors, controls, alarms, pressure switches, and related equipment.
  • Execute work in accordance with work orders, drawings, permits, isolation requirements, electrical codes, site standards, and safe work procedures.
  • Clearly document work performed, deficiencies identified, parts used, and recommended follow-up actions in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Maintain service vehicles, tools, test equipment, and work areas in safe and serviceable condition.
  • Communicate equipment condition, job status, and operational risk to supervision and affected stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in site safety activities, field-level risk assessments, inspections, continuous improvement, and reliability initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Reliability, contractors, and other trades.

About You

  •  Interprovincial Red Seal Industrial Electrician certification is required.
  • Three or more years of mining, milling, heavy industrial, or equivalent electrical maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a mill grinding environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable electrical safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with a computerized maintenance management system such as SAP is considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and reliable equipment performance.
  • Practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven safety and attendance record.

Working Conditions

  • Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 7 day on/7 day off rotation with accommodation provided during rotation.
  • Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
  • PPE always required.
  • Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
  • Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
