About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. 

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. 

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Technician, Pit Dewatering to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.

This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided. 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Access & Services, the Technician, Pit Dewatering will be responsible for managing all pumping activities within the pit and Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). Within this team, the Technician will also handle tailings discharge pipe moves, install and maintain seepage collection systems, and ensure proper operation of all non-potable water wells on-site and in surrounding areas.

Additionally, the Dewatering team is responsible for the construction, installation, and maintenance of TSF cyclone systems, supporting efficient tailings management and water control across the site. 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Install, operate, and maintain pumps including Godwin, Flygt, Cornell, Pioneer, electric submersibles, and deep well pumping systems.
  • Perform rigging, lifting, and towing tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Execute pipe bolt-up and 42" HDPE line moves as required.
  • Relocate and manage power cables and pump setups.
  • Operate excavators and wheel loaders for pump and pipeline installation/removal.
  • Fuel pumps and equipment as required, following proper safety and environmental procedures.
  • Complete and submit Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) and equipment pre-trip inspections daily.
  • Complete daily tracking sheets for pump performance, fuel usage, and maintenance activities.
  • Report all hazards or safety concerns immediately to the Dewatering Supervisor.
  • Work near water and in adverse weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with environmental and safety regulations.

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:

  • Minimum 3 years of pumping experience in industrial or mining environments.
  • Proven experience operating excavators and wheel loaders.
  • Strong knowledge of dewatering systems and pump types (Godwin, Flygt, Cornell, Pioneer).
  • Ability to perform mechanical tasks including rigging, lifting, and pipe assembly.
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Valid driver’s license; additional certifications (rigging, heavy equipment) are an asset.
  • Valid HDPE fusing ticket is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7x7, 12 hours per day.
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site.
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie.
