About Mount Milligan Mine

 

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. 

 

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. 

 

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

 

About the Opportunity

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Condition Monitoring Technician to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.

 

This role operates on a rotation of 14 days on / 14 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.

Reporting to the Reliability Engineer, the Condition Monitoring Technician is responsible for analysis and maintenance support for pumps, turbines, compressors and all other facility equipment.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Predictive program and condition monitoring administration for the following but not limited to: Rotating equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, blowers, pumps, gearbox, VFDs and motors
  • Review and monitoring of rotating equipment condition including vibration data, lube oil results, Infrared Thermography, Ultrasonic and critical operating process data such as pressures, temperatures, flows, loads & efficiencies utilizing Pl
  • Provide vibration data collection training to new employees
  • Determines vibration point locations and develops data collection routes for new and existing equipment
  • Hands on installation of vibration systems on rotating equipment
  • Field diagnostics and troubleshooting of rotating equipment. Promoting maintenance best practices in the field
  • Report equipment deficiencies in CMMS program such as Ellipse/SAP
  • Consults with Maintenance Supervisors on recommended corrective actions
  • Collaborates with responsible Operations and Maintenance Personnel, Reliability Engineers, and Planners to prioritize repairs of identified equipment deficiencies
  • RCA participation - provides relevant vibration and oil analysis history to support root cause analysis efforts

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required
  • Candidates with CAT I/CAT II/CAT Ill vibration analysis certification will be given preference
  •  A minimum of 3 years of working on or around rotating equipment is required
  • Proven knowledge in maintenance of centrifugal compressors, gas turbines, vertical and horizontal process pumps, and vibration monitoring is required
  •  Familiar with Vibration Monitoring Software's such as System 1/Ascent/Fluke 3563 would be an asset
  • Work experience with equipment alignment is required
  •  Working knowledge of Lube Analysis, thermography and basic NOT concept is considered an asset
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions is required
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Applications
  • Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues. Quickly and efficiently completes tasks
  • The ability to demonstrate conscientiousness, dependability and commitment to the role, team and company
  • Works in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment
  • Must have valid drivers license

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 14 x 14, 12 hours per day
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie
