About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

About the Opportunity
As a member of the British Columbia based Mount Milligan Exploration team, the Drill Rig Geologist will be responsible for the management of three diamond drill rigs which includes ensuring the safety of the drill sites and drill contractors, pre, during, and post, site visits, line ups, and shutdowns. The Drill Rig geologist will complete field tasks such as flagging access trails, collar surveys/staking, surface sampling, and downhole surveys. In addition, they may be asked to complete quick logs and/or detailed drill logs of drill core from a silica-saturated alkalic Cu-Au porphyry deposit. This position is a 9-month Fixed-Term Contract. The regular schedule for this position is 14 days on, 14 days off, 12-hour days.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Adhere to all mine safety regulations and site policies
- Management of three diamond drill rigs which includes ensuring the safety of the drill sites and drill contractors, pre, during, and post, site visits, line ups, and shutdowns
- Conducting daily drill site inspections
- Liaison with the contract drill team daily
- Field work such as flagging access trails, collar surveys/staking, rock grab sampling, mapping, and soil sampling
- Conduct downhole surveys and maintenance of the survey equipment
- Assessing lithology, alteration, mineralization, and structure in drill core from a silica-saturated alkalic Cu-Au porphyry deposit
- Entering drill core quick log or detailed log data into an AcQuire database and field data into an ArcPro database
- Utilizing Leapfrog Central and Leapfrog Geo to view deposit and drill hole data when required
- Conduct systematic pXRF sampling of select drill holes as needed
- General housekeeping/cleaning inside/outside core shack and weekly workplace inspections as required
- Working in conjunction with the geologists to monitor and prepare for the daily tasks required, i.e. drill hole shutdowns and downhole surveys
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings and weekly safety meetings
- Moving core from processing and logging facilities to storage areas
- Assist with the organization of pulp samples into storage facilities as needed
About You
The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
- Bachelor of science degree in geology or a geology related field
- Registered as a G.I.T with EGBC
- 0–1-year Exploration experience
- Working knowledge and experience with geological databases, GIS systems, or modeling applications (ArcGIS, MapInfo, Leapfrog, IoGas, AcQuire) is considered an asset
- Experience working in porphyry deposits
- Valid Canadian Driver’s License
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Capable of lifting core boxes up to 40 lbs
- Conducting work in a manner promoting safety to themselves and others
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements
