About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join the Centerra Corporate team. This position is a remote/hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office. Travel within Canada and internationally may be required.
Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for executing the annual completion of our Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program, with a primary focus on verifying the effectiveness of our internal controls related to financial reporting. Over time, this role will expand to encompass the execution of operational audits, and specific regulatory reporting tasks.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with external auditors, consultants, and site management to ensure a streamlined and punctual internal controls audit process.
- Support the drafting of scoping documents, conducting risk assessments, and determining materiality.
- Assist in the preparation of control documentation, control matrices and process narratives.
- Conduct walkthroughs, testing control design and implementation, and assessing the operating effectiveness of controls.
- Contribute to the compilation of the quarterly updates for the Audit Committee.
- Present findings with the Manager, Internal Audit, and opportunities for improvement to both corporate and site management, as well as the staff.
- Assist in the execution of internal audit projects, operational audits, investigations, and supporting regulatory filings.
- Monitor and follow up on control deficiencies and aid in their timely resolution.
- Pursue continuous professional development opportunities and be highly motivated by prospects for personal and professional growth.
About you
To qualify, you must have a degree or diploma in accounting or other related field, or equivalent combination of education & work experience. You will also have over 3 years of audit experience, either in public accounting or predominantly in an internal audit role within the resource industry.

- Able to effectively communicate, especially when conveying challenging matters
- Hard working and motivated to drive continuous improvement
- Highly detailed-oriented
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to build effective relationships with cross-functional teams
- Extremely detail and results oriented
- Able to work with confidential information with professionalism and tact
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting under the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is preferred
- Familiar with SAP would be considered an asset
