About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Acid Plant Operator to join our Centerra Langeloth team. The operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of acid production, water treatment and acid storage facilities. It is also responsible for monitoring, controlling and maintaining equipment processes.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate and monitor acid plant systems including converters, heat exchangers, towers, compressors, acid systems, and related process equipment to maintain safe and efficient production.
  • Perform routine inspections, rounds, and operational adjustments to ensure proper equipment performance and identify potential issues.
  • Conduct sampling and testing to verify process conditions, product quality, and proper system operation.
  • Operate the water treatment system, including daily operation, process adjustments, and equipment cleaning as required.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished product, including sulfur and process chemicals, following established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Operate the acid loading station, including switching valves and pumps, sampling product, and completing required truck inspections.
  • Maintain accurate daily records including production data, lab results, truck weights, and operational logs.
  • Follow all environmental, safety, and quality standards to minimize environmental impact and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Makes sure that all personnel in the area are using the correct safety equipment and procedures.
  • Respond to operational issues and assist with plant restarts following power interruptions or process disruptions.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and maintain required safety training and procedures.
  • Understands and is prepared for emergencies such as chemical spills, leaks, equipment failures and takes actions to mitigate risks.
  • Issues necessary permits and verifies correct signatures.  Authorizes Maintenance personnel to enter the area and leads them to the faulty equipment.  Secures the area with lockouts, etc. to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Unload materials and parts from transportation vessels using appropriate equipment such as forklifts.
  • Inspect incoming materials for quality and compliance with established procedure and specifications.
  • Stays up to date on industry best practices and refresher trainings throughout the year of all SOP’s and JSA’s
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of chemical processes, safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a potentially hazardous environment.
  • Applicable experience, training, or college courses in area of water quality, chemistry, or biology.
