About the Opportunity

As a member of the British Columbia based Mount Milligan Exploration team, the Lead Core Cutter will be responsible for cutting all drill core with a Pothier or Corewise automatic saw, preparing sample shipments, and following all QAQC guidelines during this process. In addition, the lead position will be responsible for the training and mentorship of the core cutting team on their shift. This role is a fixed-term contract approximately 155 kilometres Northwest of Prince George, British Columbia. The work schedule is 14 days on, 14 days off, 12-hour Shifts.       

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Adhere to all mine safety regulations and site policies
  • Training and mentorship of the core cutting team on the same shift
  • Monitoring the core cutting team to ensure that all QAQC guidelines are met while cutting and preparing sample shipments
  • Cutting drill core with a Pothier core cutting saw
  • Cutting drill core with a Corewise automatic saw
  • Preparing poly and rice bags of cut drill core for shipment
  • Following all QAQC guidelines while cutting and preparing sample shipments
  • Working with the geotechnical team and the core logging team to assure all QAQC is implemented
  • Working with the Lead Geotechnician to assure all paperwork, sampling procedures and preparations are in good standing.
  • Conducting weekly workplace inspections as required
  • Organization of pulp samples into storage facilities
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings and weekly safety meetings
  • General housekeeping/cleaning inside/outside core shack
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed including flagging trails, collar surveys/staking, drill site inspections, and field sampling
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Core Cutter role as required or as assigned by the department head

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:

  • Able to work remotely on a rotational basis completing 12-hour workdays for a one-week period
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions when required
  • Conducting work in a manner promoting safety to themselves and others
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License
  • Capable of lifting core boxes up to 40 lbs
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
