About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Student, Engineering to join the Centerra Corporate team. This position is a remote/hybrid role based at our Toronto, ON office.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated engineering student to join our project delivery team on a 12 month co-op placement, commencing in January 2026. This role is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering who are eager to gain practical experience in a large-scale mining project environment.
Reporting to the Director, Project Delivery, the successful candidate will support a range of project engineering, construction, planning, and execution activities while working closely with our multidisciplinary team of project/construction managers, engineers, and contractors.
You'll be contributing to critical projects and learning how engineering principles are applied in large scale operations. This role may require the candidate to travel to the project site in Thompson Creek, Idaho.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination support of drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Participate in data collection, and technical evaluations.
- Assist superintendents and engineers in monitoring contractor performance, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in handovers, deficiency tracking, and turnover documentation for mechanical/electrical/civil works.
- Contribute to memos, progress reports, and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support project scheduling, cost tracking, and performance monitoring activities.
- Assist with safety and risk reviews, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned exercises across engineering disciplines
About you
To qualify, you must be a university student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in any of the following fields – Mining, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Strong academic standing and eligibility for a formal co-op / internship placement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and eagerness to learn in a project environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Legal ability to travel within North America – ie. Valid Passport
