About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Systems Analyst, the Instrument Control / DCS Engineer oversees plant instrumentation and control systems, including SCADA interfaces, equipment selection, and engineering package review. Responsibilities include supporting commissioning, improving controls for safety and reliability, managing project costs, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position is based on-site at the Langeloth Metallurgical Facility in Langeloth, PA.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination of all issues associated with processing instrumentation and control systems to meet business expectations.
- Manage the interface on plant process SCADA systems.
- Provide input on selection of instrument and control equipment, review and approval of specifications.
- Design, input and review of engineering process contractor and vendor packages for power distribution, instruments, PLC systems controls and all field instrumentation and process control systems and its architecture.
- Support the commissioning activities for E/I/DCS to ensure these systems are properly commissioned.
- Develops project cost estimates and monitors project work to ensure compliance to project budget.
- Modifies existing controls for improved safety, reliability, process control and compliance with applicable codes including OSHA requirements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment; Use personal protective equipment as required and report safety or hazard incidents.
- Suggest and implement continuous process improvement methods.
- Collaborate with other teams to achieve production goals.
About You
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Process/Controls Engineering or related subject.
- Knowledge of PLC system controls including Allen-Bradley PLC systems and software.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as Device Net, Modbus, ASCII and Ethernet IP is a plus.
- Three to five years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
