About Thompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometres southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Site Electrician to join our Thompson Creek Mine/Mill Maintenance team.  

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and inspecting components and systems, tools, and equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Performing routine and corrective maintenance services, adjusting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting components
  • Demonstrating the ability to layout basic control systems and repair through the use of manuals and schematic diagrams
  • Providing technical assistance to employees
  • Working as a cohesive team member while demonstrating the ability to work without direct supervision.

About You

To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required:

  • Having a strong personal safety culture and possessing task risk assessment skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and support of safety culture, including all safety processes and procedures
  • Effective verbal and written comment skills 
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to rapidly changing priorities 
  • Understanding of electrical prints and symbols, as well as having experience with both NEC and MSHA regulations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to address all types of electrical problems in various areas of the site and mobile equipment
  • Possessing the required electrical tools

While 5+ years of electrical experience in the mining or construction industries and completion of technical training and schooling is preferred, it is not required.
