About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a full-time temporary Payroll Liaison to join the Centerra Corporate team. This is a back-fill role for a 12-16 month term. This position is a remote role, with the opportunity for a hybrid option based at our Toronto, ON office.
Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for overseeing and assisting our external payroll team in the processing of 9 North American payrolls (semi-monthly and biweekly).
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining the time and attendance system accurately, following up with employees and department managers to ensure data is collected and maintained on time
- Processing time & attendance exceptions & corrections as needed
- Validating data between HRIS and payroll systems; performing reconciliations as necessary
- Working with Human Resources and Finance teams on balancing and reporting; collaborating with site timekeepers
- Assisting Human Resources teams with annual and ad hoc payouts (vacation payouts, quarterly and annual bonus payouts)
- Responding to employee and manager payroll inquiries within a reasonable timeframe
- Assuring our external partner (ADP) runs payrolls accurately and on time by serving as their primary point of contact
- Informing appropriate parties of concerns and escalating complex problems to the Senior HRBP (or other personnel as necessary)
- Overseeing and coordinating year-end activities and payroll audits (both internal and external)
- Keeping all payroll activity and documentation up to date and compliant with SOX
- Challenging the status quo and driving improvements in the payroll processes
- Performing other payroll and administrative support as required
About You
To qualify, you must have a university degree or college diploma in a relevant field, along with 5-7 years of payroll/time and attendance experience.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
- Previous experience in both Canadian and US payrolls
- Experienced in Time & Attendance and Payroll processes
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) (preferred)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel
- Highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding work ethic with a high degree of confidentiality
- Strong communication skills and a team player
- Previous experience in a mining environment or within a 24/7 operation with multiple shifts/rotations (asset)
- Past experience in ADP payroll (asset)
- Experience in SAP SuccessFactors (asset)
