About Thompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometres southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Technician, Environmental Special Projects to join our Thompson Creek team. 

Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team. Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Maintain and repair environmental protection equipment and systems as requested by Coordinator.
• Projects may include the following:
  • • Snow removal
    • Pipeline install and maintenance
    • Haul and access road grading and maintenance
    • Operation and maintenance of pumping systems
    • Surveying
    • Inspection of structures and site locations
    • Operation of various heavy equipment to support mine and mill efforts
    • Installation and maintenance of stormwater protection systems
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports.
• Report unsafe mechanical conditions to a supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment.

About You

• To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• 3+ years related experience preferred.
• Excellent safety record.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to personal transportation
• Must be able to pass Thompson Creek Mine pre-employment physical, which includes drug and alcohol testing
