About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an Analyst, Treasury to join the Centerra Corporate team. Reporting to the Assistant Treasurer, this position, will assist with monthly and quarter internal and external treasury reporting, assist in the administration of multi-asset, multi-year hedging programs to provide risk management to the mine sites, lead in providing cash management assistance to corporate and mine sites by centralizing cash via cash sweeps and investing surplus cash. The candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of intercompany funding drawdown and repayment notices, liaising with the taxation team and provision of cashflow forecasts to senior management. This position will be a challenging opportunity for someone looking to work in a dynamic environment with significant cross function communication and access to exciting change initiatives. The role requires the development of cross-functional relationships and interaction with people at all levels of the organization as well as external banking relationship partners in foreign exchange, lending and cash management. 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Administration and booking for FX spot transactions, and physical settlement of financial hedges and spot trades through Bloomberg’s trading tools.
  • Assistance in preparation of derivative deal tickets and administration of the derivative portfolios, valuation and monthly reporting, with the growth potential to take on trader role duties on one or more portfolios.
  • Department lead for reporting on cash management by updating and monitoring daily cash balances. Additionally, responsible to prepare, analyze, and distribute the monthly cash balances and compare actuals variance to prior forecasts.
  • Preparation of wire payments, assisting accounts payable with relevant payments and relevant audit support for back-up SOX accounting standards.
  • Administration and tracking of bank tokens and updating of account signatories as required on all bank accounts.
  • Administration of Intercompany loan process and funding across the sites, monthly reporting, and liaise with Taxation and Accounting for reconciliation.
  • Preparation of the monthly cashflow direct forecast to optimize cash sweeping from the mine sites rebalancing bank exposure for proper counterparty allocation, liaising with mine site finance teams and corporate financial planning and analysis.
  • Provision of monthly and quarterly financial data to the Financial Reporting Team.
  • Assist Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer with updating relevant Treasury controls and related documentation.
  • Reconciling quarterly interest rate charges and assisting in the preparation of borrowing and repayment notices.

About You

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • University graduate with a degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting.
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience. Mining industry experience preferred, but not required.
  • Bloomberg working knowledge and/or experience with ERP systems would be an asset.
  • Professional designation or working towards one (CPA, CFA, CTP) would be an asset.
  • General knowledge of, and interest in, financial markets, derivative instruments, and accounting procedures an asset.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to consolidate and present data with a high level of accuracy.
  • Decision making and problem solving.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work as a team and across functions within the organization.
  • Highly proficient at Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and excellent data manipulation and variance analysis skills.
