About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a full-time Senior Project Geologist - Oakley to join our team. 

Reporting to the Manager, Exploration US, the Senior Project Geologist will be responsible for the oversight of the project exploration operations including the objectives, activities, timelines, budgets, and result within the confines of local, state, and federal laws. The responsibilities will include exploration, permitting, and environmental oversight, health and safety oversight and the recording and reporting of those activities with the assistance of the project team. The expectations will include operating in a safe manner, within the confines of the budget, and maintaining a collaborative environment for the staff and contractors. A key focus for the position will be interpretation of the results and understanding the benefit that the results may provide to the company. 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans which include objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Define exploration targets, sampling strategies and methodologies for mineral deposit assessment.
  • Foster a collaborative and safe work environment while maintaining focus on project goals and strategy.
  • Conduct geological surveys and analyses to identify prospective mineral deposits.
  • Monitor drilling programs, core sampling, and laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets to ensure cost effectiveness and use of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports of activities, findings, and progress.
  • Present project updates, results, and recommendation to stakeholders.
  • Analyze geological data to interpret mineral locations and characteristics.
  • Collaborate with other geoscientists to interpret exploration results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

To qualify, you must have a university degree in geology, along with 10+ years of work experience in mineral exploration.   

Our ideal candidate will also possess the following:

  • Thorough knowledge of the range of ore deposit models in the western USA, specifically those styles of mineral occurrences relevant to the company’s business.
  • Proven project management skills, including budgeting.
  • High level of proficiency with ArcGIS or MapInfo/Discover and acQuire.
  • Strong communications skills, a team player with a strong inclination towards developing cooperative solutions.
  • Experience working with drill contractors and supervising drilling, core handling, and logging.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (asset).
