About the Goldfield District Project

Located on the Walker Lane trend in Esmeralda County, Nevada, about 30 miles south of Tonopah, the Goldfield District Project can be accessed via U.S. Highway 95 from Las Vegas or Reno. This newly-acquired project is an underexplored property in a prolific mining jurisdiction that provides substantial upside potential.

Goldfield is a conventional open-pit, heap leach project that contains three known deposits: Gemfield, Goldfield Main, and McMahon Ridge. 

Goldfield District Project promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time GIS Specialist, Exploration to join our team in Goldfield District Project in Goldfield, Nevada, to help lead exploration at a historic gold-producing district in Nevada.  This is a hybrid opportunity requiring some travel to exploration sites.

Reporting to the Global Exploration Information Manager, the GIS Specialist, Exploration is responsible for developing mapping products and performing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis, integration, and dissemination for the USA exploration team. Additionally, as part of the Centerra Exploration Geoscience Information group, this position will contribute to the development and deployment of new spatial information systems and workflows for the global exploration department.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Being responsible for the spatial integration and maintenance of exploration GIS datasets collected or acquired by the regional exploration teams
  • Managing exploration GIS Geodatabases and related data files on centralized cloud system/GIS server
  • Managing and implementing the exploration spatial GIS content (ESRI), ArcGIS Online (AGOL) applications and mobile field collection and other related content (SharePoint,etc) where applicable
  • Ensuring applications and tools meet the exploration teams’ needs and data collection follows exploration best practices, procedures and policies
  • Training exploration team in mobile/field data collection and GIS applications as required
  • Performing GIS QA/QC and metadata updates for exploration spatial datasets (raster and vector)
  • Creating maps, cross-sections, figures, and other graphic material for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Providing GIS application support when and where required

About You

To qualify, you must have a Degree or technical diploma in GIS, geomatics, mineral technology and/or earth sciences or related field or any other combination of training and experiences deemed relevant. You must also have 5+ years in a similar role, with a professional background in exploration and/or mining preferred.

Our ideal candidate will also possess the following:

  • Experience with ESRI Desktop and online applications (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI mobile applications, AGOL, Dashboards, Webapps)
  • Experience managing mobile field collection platforms including ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123
  • Experience in the management, analysis and dissemination of exploration GIS datasets (geochemical, geophysical and remotely sensed information)
  • Practical experience of GIS concepts, spatial analysis, GIS and related software integration, and spatial modelling
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise geodatabases
  • Knowledge and understanding of exploration best practices relating to geospatial data collection and mineral exploration workflows (field sampling/mapping, mobile data collection, drill core logging, geoscience datasets, remote sensing, drafting, QA/QC etc.)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Highly organized, strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environment, and community
  • Possess strong communication abilities

The following skills and experience would be considered an asset:

  • Technical Certification in ESRI, GIS analytics and/or MS SQL
  • Experience in surveying principles, practices and instruments 
  • Knowledge of exploration geoscience and data management applications (i.e. Geosoft Target, Discover, Leapfrog, relational geodatabases, SharePoint.)
